Golden Star Wassa Ltd (GSWL) proudly announces that we have achieved the ultimate victory at the National Inter-Mines First Aid and Safety Competition, with our mine team emerging as 2024 national champions. This prestigious win demonstrates our commitment to safety excellence and the dedication of every team member involved.
Our path to the national title began with a resounding victory as Zone II champions, where we surpassed competitors like Abosso Goldfields, Newmont Akyem, and Adamus Resources with an impressive score of 84.5 points. Hosting the Zone II competition at our Wassa site provided us the opportunity to showcase not only our Safety and First Aid skills but also our organizational expertise and hospitality.
Throughout the competition, Golden Star consistently demonstrated advanced practical skills, in-depth knowledge, and strategic thinking in first aid and safety protocols. This win reflects the diligent preparation, rigorous training by the teams(mine and Community), and unwavering support from our management and host communities.
This marks Golden Star’s sixth win at the National level and our proudest achievement to date in the Inter-Mines First Aid and Safety Competition. For the incredible dedication and hard work, each member of our first aid team was rewarded with a brand-new HP laptop, a well-deserved prize for their exceptional performance.
Congratulations to every member of Golden Star and our host communities who contributed to this outstanding success, highlighting our readiness and resilience in first aid preparedness across the mining sector.
